Incentive Bingo rewards Resilience students for great month

Win or lose, Jordan Terry was always smiling as he played Bingo during Resilience Academy’s monthly Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) incentive program to reward students.
“I like Bingo and winning prizes,” said Terry, who won a bag of goodies that included a Dunkin Donuts gift card, charger box, and stickers. “I hope to play Bingo again.”


Special Olympics offers more than athletics

The Special Olympics bring more than sports to Salt Point Center students – though for them the excitement is all about the athletics.
Diamond Nelson likes being involved in the Basketball Skills competition “because you get to work on your shooting,” she said during a practice session Thursday, Jan. 16. This is her second year participating in the program.


SPC students sing, dance for crowd

Decorated with a Christmas tree, menorah and artwork of a kinara, it was the perfect setting.


Board members tour BOCES campus

Members of the Dutchess BOCES Board of Education toured the Career and Technical Institute.Michael McFarland called it a “very enlightening experience” as the Board of Trustees member toured the three schools on the Dutchess BOCES campus with Board President Ralph Chiumento, Jr., and Board Vice President Gully Stanford on Dec. 6.


Thanksgiving lunch brings all of SPC together

SPC students enjoy Thanksgiving lunchThe Thanksgiving tables were full in the Salt Point Center gym today for the annual Thanksgiving Lunch.
Students and staff sat together at tables adorned with vibrant colored tablecloths as some staff members served meals prepared by the food services team.


Turkey Trot sends students off in good spirits

To celebrate before classes wrapped up for the Thanksgiving break, Resilience Academy students embarked on a fun footrace around the building. The first annual Turkey Trot, despite being moved inside due to rainy weather, gave students a chance to get out of class and stretch their legs.


CTI, Resilience Academy hold open houses

This was the first Dutchess BOCES open house for teachers Wendy Wabshinak and Michael Hollick. It was their opportunity to share with parents a little bit about themselves, the course curriculum and the great work being done by students in the first two-plus months of the school year.
The Career and Technical Institute and Resilience Academy each held their open house on Nov. 20.
