Resilience Academy students in April Hart's class are lending a helping hand to the Career & Technical Institute's Automotive Technology and Electrical programs by sorting out materials so students in those programs can find what they need much quicker. This project helped students in the Pegasus program develop life and work skills. “They are working on following directions from an adult other than the classroom staff. They are walking to get and return the job/task from CTI. They are interacting with the CTI students and staff and developing social skills along with matching and sorting skills they can use out in the workforce,” Hart said. In addition, it helps them with staying on task for the duration of the task/job. Hart said the students are working on sorting by a variety of different attributes: size, color, shape, usage and style. A total of six students helped with the organizing project in both classes, Hart said, adding that she hopes to continue the collaboration with CTI throughout the year. The RA students were treated to tours of the classrooms as a thank you for their hard work.
