When students at Dutchess BOCES’ Career & Technical Institute (CTI) return in the fall they will see improvements as soon as they enter the hallways.
New lockers are being installed in CTI’s hallways to replace the original ones, which were removed by Hertz Furniture during the week of June 30. Hertz will also do the installation.
Principal Nick Millas noted that the lockers need to be secured so students can store their belongings safely.
“You can even see that there’s orange paint behind them where they painted over them to make it blue … it was definitely time,” Principal Nick Millas of the old lockers. “We want to make sure that all of our lockers are ones that can be secured and that they have functionality.”

Hertz Furniture project manager Marc Kosowsky noted that the new lockers will be installed in August after the walls have been painted, with Millas adding that it should be completed by the third week in August.

CTI’s Dining Room, next to the culinary program’s kitchen, will receive a new ceiling, lighting and flooring to replace the carpet that is currently in there. Millas said that the work will be completed by the end of summer and he hopes to invest in new furniture for the dining room.

“If we’re going to have guests come in, we want it to have something that’s nice, something that’s new,” Millas said. “It should be something that our students and staff can be proud of.”
