CTI Assistant Principal Brian Conte, District Superintendent Dr. Jodi DeLucia, Richard Petschko and his wife, Jen, fellow CTI teacher CJ Kelly and Principal Nick Millas. The Mid-Hudson School Study Council honored CTI teacher Richard Petschko with a Teaching Excellence Award at its annual meeting and awards ceremony in May.

Principal Nick Millas nominated Petschko, who has worked at Dutchess BOCES for 28 years, for his work since 2022 as a Trade Electric teacher.
“He joined a program that was going through an increase in enrollment and took that program to the next level,” Millas said. “He added curriculum components to bring the program up to industry standards through his collaboration with the other teachers and industry partners and promotes industry and agency partners following field trips and guest speakers.”
Often his students are hired by those same partners.
Trade Electric isn’t Petschko’s first teaching experience.
He started with Dutchess BOCES as a crisis worker and then taught for 20 years in the alternative education program.
“He has shown he can evolve and grow late into his career and still have the same passion and drive to support students and help them attain their goals. Teachers who collaborate with him or mentees who get support appreciate everything he has to offer,” Millas said.
Petschko was one of 12 recipients of the award.
