The Deputy Superintendent is a cabinet-level leader who plays a pivotal role in advancing the Dutchess BOCES Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan. This position ensures that agency operations, programs, and partnerships work cohesively to empower learners, support districts, and sustain innovation across the region. Working closely with the District Superintendent, the Deputy Superintendent provides executive leadership for agency operations, supervises key departments, and serves as the Chief Administrator’s designee when needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a district-level leadership role within a BOCES or K–12 public school district (Required)
  • New York State certification as a School District Leader (Required)
  • NYS professional teaching certification (Required)
  • Ten years of successful experience in education, including teaching, supervision, and administration

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership - Provide executive oversight for agency departments and initiatives aligned with the BOCES Blueprint for Excellence and Agency Goals.
  • Drive implementation of the agency’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
  • Build and sustain strong, relationships with component districts, community organizations, higher education, business, and state agencies.
  • Prioritize student learning, well-being, and future readiness in all strategic decisions and partnerships.
  • Champion our core values and regional collaboration.
  • Mentor members of the Administrative and Leadership Teams through professional learning, coaching, and collaboration.
  • Model intentional leadership that strengthens the agency’s culture and advances our commitment to growth, equity, and excellence.

Terms of Employment

  • Full-time, 12-month
  • Competitive salary; negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Range: $185,000-$195,000
  • Full complement of health and other related benefits
  • Reports to District Superintendent

Dutchess BOCES main entranceDutchess BOCES, located in Dutchess County, NY, provides a wide range of innovative and high-quality educational programs and services to students, school districts, and communities across the region. We serve the 13 component school districts of Dutchess County. The agency supports students of all abilities through special education, career and technical education, adult education, and alternative learning pathways. We do this currently through our Salt Point Center (K-8), Resilience Academy (our Alternative High School serving students in grades 9-12), Career and Technical Institute (Grades 11-12) and our Adult Learning Institute (adults).
Dutchess BOCES also plays a critical role in professional development, curriculum support, and implementation of state initiatives for component districts.
