Students paint blocks being used in a puzzle as part of an industrial arts project at Resilience Academy.Industrial Arts Teacher Jodiah Jacobs brought history into his recent puzzle project with Resilience Academy students.
Jacobs taught students how to make their own colorful wooden puzzles, complete with a picture on the inside of the puzzle box upon their return from winter recess. He tied the project to a bit of history about immigration in the United States, explaining to students that when immigrants came to Ellis Island, they had to complete the Feature Profile Test - a puzzle of a face immigrants had to complete in the early 20th century - to help determine their eligibility to enter the United States.
