Intro to Auto Mechanics & Service Bay Tech

This is where your automotive career can begin and continue to grow.  The class will cover identification of components and parts common to all autos.  This will increase your knowledge making you a more valuable employee.  You will learn how to service today’s complex vehicles in a way that makes you fast and efficient in a dealership, franchise service center, or private repair shop.  You will be taught to recognize problems and recommend needed services to the customer.  Personal and shop safety, right-to-know about the fluids and chemicals used in service facilities, along with hands on practice time in the shop.  Safety glasses provided.

NO PREREQUISITES FOR THIS CLASS.  Students will start the series of automotive classes with Intro to Auto Mechanics and Service Bay Tech.  Additional classes will be recommended after consultation with Adult Education Counselors and the instructor.

Automotive Electricity:  Lighting/Troubleshooting II

This class will begin with the battery and job in the automobile.  How they are replaced, tested and serviced.  How the starter operates, service and testing, removal and replacement.  Charging system testing and replacement including belt replacements.  Lighting systems, circuits, protection devices, bulb and unit replacements.  Personal safety strongly instructed and adhered to.   Safety Glasses supplied.

PREREQUISITES:  Intro to Auto Mechanics and Service Bay Tech or Instructor Permission.

Auto, Tires, Wheels, and Suspension

In-depth study of steering, ride control and suspension, wheels, tires, traction.
