[PIC] Altenative HS Principal Duane Sharrock Working From His Office With Mask & Gloves

What’s school without the morning announcements?  Fortunately, for those who attend or work at the Dutchess BOCES Alternative High School, they don’t have to find out!

Duane Sharrock, assistant principal, has been recording and sending out morning announcements during the building’s closure.  While there are no club meetings or activities to promote, birthday wishes, safety tips like hand washing, and of course the mandatory pun or joke at the end are keeping smiles on the faces of many.

“Clinically, this is so very important in a time of such uncertainty and fear,” said Salena M. Gray, Astor Deputy Director for Clinical Services of Day Treatment Programs in the Hudson Valley.  “Having a bit of normal makes things seem much less scary.  For kids who have severe anxiety and depression, this can bring comfort and a little relief to their day.”

Gray and a team of Astor Services staff work closely with Dutchess BOCES staff, students, and families throughout the school year.
