Annual Professional Performance Review

Introduction

The purpose of this Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) is to improve the quality of instruction and learning in the classroom and other settings that will result in improved student achievement.

The mandated elements of the APPR as outlined in part 100.2 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education are fulfilled in the Dutchess BOCES APPR.

Domains of Professional Practice

This APPR is founded on the conceptual principles of Charlotte Danielson published as A Framework for Teaching [© 1998 Educational Testing Service]. The domains are tightly integrated with one another. They provide a straightforward common vocabulary with which to conduct an on-going professional conversation that fulfills the basic purpose of this APPR. The four Domains of Professional Practice are articulated with the eight (8) criteria for evaluation as required in part 100.2 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education. It is preferred that the supervisor and the evaluatee focus their work on one, or at most two domains in any given year. All domains should have been addressed in the course of the four-year cycle.
