Students from the Dutchess BOCES Career and Technical Institute visited Barnes and Noble in Poughkeepsie on November 1st to explore the topic of children’s literature. These high school students, enrolled in CTI’s Early Childhood Education program, learned about book selection, displaying literature to appeal to children, selecting books suited for reading aloud, and choosing suitable companion crafts for youngsters.
In addition, the students learned what skills and qualifications Barnes and Noble looks for when hiring employees to work with children at the bookstore. Next, the class will be completing research papers on children’s authors, said teacher Melissa Greig.
