Classes Added for Lead Safety for Remodeling, Repair & Painting [RRP]

Dutchess BOCES Adult Learning Institute [ALI], in collaboration with Dutchess County Department of Health is pleased to offer additional One Day EPA Certification classes entitled Lead Safety for Remodeling, Repair, and Painting (RRP).

Effective April 22, 2010, The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will require that all landlords, contractors, property management firms, or handymen who do renovation, remodeling or painting work, in pre-1978 housing or child occupied facilities, complete Lead Safety for Remodeling, Repair and Painting (RRP) training.

EPA requires that at least one individual from each company or crew complete the Lead Safety for Remodeling, Repair and Painting (RRP) training. That individual is then responsible for insuring that the other employees on site are trained in lead safe work practices and that these practices are in use when and where appropriate. Please note that EPA has been rather busy enforcing the RRP provisions.

Individuals attending RRP training will have their picture taken as part of EPA’s certification process. Certifications will be mailed to students. 

Remaining classes include May 22, and June 19, 2012. New dates will be added soon. Registrations for each class session must be paid in full one week prior to the class. Reduced tuition is available for those who qualify.

Class Dates and Locations: (Participants need only choose ONE date to attend a full day class).

• April 17- Dutchess BOCES Salt Point Center (SPC),
Room 137, 5 BOCES Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601

• May 22 and June 19- Adult Learning Institute, One Civic Center Plaza, Suite 300*, 5 BOCES Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601

Class Time: 8:00AM – 5:00PM (Registration starts at 7:45AM)

Tuition: $199.00**

* New class location for Lead RRP classes for May and June. Parking is available at the City of Poughkeepsie Parking Structure adjacent to our building. The fee is $1.00 per hour.
- The parking fee will be paid to the attendant in cash or with credit card. BOCES has no control of City of Poughkeepsie parking.

** Participants may qualify for tuition adjustment if you are a licensed contractor in the City of Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County resident, OR a property owner in Dutchess County.
- Dutchess County BOCES and the Dutchess County Health Department have finalized an agreement that allows students taking the EPA RRP program, who qualify, to receive the training for a reduced tuition of $35.00.

Registration: Complete the RRP Registration Form and submit by fax or e-mail to register AND apply for a tuition adjustment-if you qualify for the reduced tuition you will be informed.
Participation is limited to 24 individuals per class. All registrations must be paid in full one week prior to the class.
