The Cool Tools for School online course is back for 2016-2017! To register go to www.dcboces.org/pd.
Cool Tools for School is a flexible, self-paced, online learning program designed to help you keep up (and catch up) with a wide range of web-based services and networking tools, and explore how they can be used in a K-12 setting. Participants will work through 5 or 10 learning modules focused on different categories of web-based educational services and tools. There are currently 40 modules that will appeal to a wide range of interests. There will be multiple tracks: Track 1 will be for school librarians who have not participated in this project before, Tracks 2, 3 & 4 will be for those who have participated in the past and are looking for new topics to explore. There will be a total of 10 lessons or "things" in each track. A new module will be presented every two weeks, with the course beginning in November 2016 and completing in May 2017. Participants completing all 10 modules will receive 20 hours upon district approval. Those completing at least five modules will receive 10 hours of credit. No credit will be given for participation in fewer than five modules. Course participation will be tracked and evaluated through participation in online discussions and the completion of the online tasks included in each module. This is a collaborative project among several School Library Systems throughout the state. Participants will interact online with librarians within and outside of our region. Each lesson should take about 2 hours to complete. MLP Registration and payment due by October 31, 2016.
