Behind the wheel experience

Behind the Wheel Experience
Eligible individuals receive behind the wheel driving experience and a five-hour pre-licensing class in preparation for the NYS road test.

Defensive Driving
Classes are provided for those acquiring cars or driver's licenses, or needing assistance with their car insurance and/or registration.

Car Repairs
If a vehicle can be restored to a condition of safety and dependability, consideration is given to repairing it.

Car Seats
The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department provides a limited number of infant/toddler car seats to eligible families.

Car ownership

Car Ownership
When car ownership is the best solution for eligible, working individuals, we provide used automobiles.

Car Maintenance Instruction
Basic car maintenance instruction is offered to those receiving vehicles.

Transportation Services
Some individuals may need taxi service or bus tokens to attend job interviews, begin a job, or remain employed. This service is often provided on a temporary basis until a more permanent solution is reached.
