Dutchess BOCES MTI is pleased to announce that we now have HVACR courses available online. These courses cover every facet of the field of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration from entry level to advanced, including preparation for NATE and EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Recovery and Transition. The courses will be offered in module format and are available online to fit your busy schedule.

Some of the courses require a laboratory component that will be offered on several different dates at accommodate your schedule.

Courses

Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced

This NATE recognized online training is perfect for your busy schedule.  You can study at your own pace and at any time of the day or night.  Spend as much time as needed on a certain page or subject. As with "in-class" courses, we offer instructor support as well. Any questions for the instructor, just e-mail and you will have an answer within 24 hours.  You have subscription access to course for 60 days.   Our courses contain 6 modules that cover specific HVACR concepts by incorporating a presentation that utilizes some or all of the following; text reading assignments, web site tours, applied exercises, online quizzes, industry terminology definitions, video clips, animations, images and downloadable/printable handouts.  Each module completes with a 20 question module specific exam. All courses are finished after completing a 25 question comprehensive final exam.  A minimum passing score of 75% overall is required for a successful completion.  Each course is the equivalent of 1.5 semester credits or 18 NATE continuing education units [CEUs].  The NATE continuing education units [CEUs] are recognized training hours applicable to NATE recertification.

The costs are $184 for Foundation courses, $200 for Intermediate courses, and $224 for Advanced courses.

NATE Exam Prep Review

Each review comes with random selection exams that include immediate feedback. With these exams available on demand, you can continually test yourself and improve in the areas that you need most.

Online learning tools include:

  • User-friendly navigation
  • 30-day access

The cost is $79 for each NATE Exam Prep Review course.

Pre-Certification Assessment [PCA]

This series of online assessments is designed to assess general and specific HVAC technical knowledge. The focus of this program is NATE certification or a similar HVAC industry examination, which establish an individual’s level of professionalism and technical competence. Exam content is randomly selected from a pool of content categories and then compiled as a total exam. The weighting of the content category depends on what exam is being taken.

Pools of content categories include:

  • Customer Service
  • Trade Math
  • HVAC Applied Physics
  • HVAC Electrical
  • Air Distribution Specific
  • Water Distribution Specific
  • Fuel Gas Specific
  • Air Conditioning Specific
  • Heat Pump Specific

After you complete and submit your exam you will receive a performance report that you can print. This report will tell you where your strengths and weaknesses are based on your assessment. Your report will recommend a specific course of action to follow regarding additional study or indicate that you are prepared for your certification exam.

The pre-certification assessment [PCA] is selected by the NATE certification that you are preparing for.

The cost is $34 for each Pre-Certification Assessment course.

Technical Core Assessment [TCA]

This assessment is a series of 7 exams that is designed to assess knowledge related to our core series of HVACR courses. The total assessment consists of 150 randomly selected questions. Upon completion of the assessment and evaluation by staff, the examinee will be provided with an individual education plan via email. Performance on the assessment will determine the structure of this plan.

The core technical knowledge areas cover:

  • HVACR Safety
  • HVACR Electrical
  • HVACR Applied Physics
  • HVACR Air Properties

The cost is $34 for the Technical Core Assessment course.
