Auto Mechanics

Learn preventive maintenance and the repair of automobiles. Topics include starting and charging systems, engine operation and theory, fuel systems, ignition systems, brakes [including ABS], alignment and suspension, manual and automatic transmissions, heating and cooling systems, NYS inspection, engine controls, sensors, and more. Students may bring their own vehicle to be worked on, with Instructor permission.

Auto Body Glass Etching and Tinting

Glass etching is an art form that can be applied to automotive windows or just about any type of glass product. Applied window tints are also very popular and easy with just a little instruction. This new program is for the do-it-yourselfer that will give you an understanding of the process, technique and tools needed to do glass etching and window tinting.

Auto Body Restoration

This auto body program is designed to specifically address the topic of classic car restoration. The ten week course will be taught by the President of The Mid-Hudson Chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America. The instructor is well versed in quality restoration methods and procedures. Learn from experience and practice the trade of antique automobile restoration.

Small Engine Repair

Learn fundamental repair and diagnostic skills for working with two and four-cycle engines used on lawn care equipment. Students must have their own projects, tools and fuels. Safety glasses required, included in tuition.

Welding For Artisans

Open up a new way of expressing your creativity. This course is designed for the creative artisan. Learn how to use scrap and recycled metals to create whimsical or functional ornamental pieces. Course topics include: braising, soldering, and welding.

Building Maintenance & Construction Technology

Skilled building maintenance workers in great demand! This 200-hour course is structured to prepare individuals for entry level positions in the field of building maintenance. Instruction consists of classroom lecture with major emphasis on supervised hands on training. Students will become familiarized with common maintenance problems, solutions, tools, and supplies needed for installation and repairs in the various trades. Skills covered include: Safety, Basic Carpentry Skills, Basic Plumbing Repairs and Basic Heating & Cooling maintenance.

Bartending

Do you enjoy meeting people and desire a challenging career, which is fun and exciting? If so, then take a “tip” and become a Bartender. Topics include mixing cocktails, bar equipment, legal responsibilities, customer service, and more. Handson training will be provided using non-alcoholic substitutes for mixing. Come join us and learn the science of bartending for fun and profit.

Introduction to Auto Cad

The student will develop an understanding and practical experience in the use of Auto Cad as a design tool. Students will work with Auto CAD 2000 L to design and develop a finished drawing and project. Topics covered will include tool bars, key commands, geometric construction, various projections, sections, auxiliaries, layers, dimensioning, sketching, detail drawing and lettering that is practiced and applied. Students will back up all work and practice recovering lost work. Optional Text: Mastering Auto CAD by George O. Mura

A/C and Refrigeration 1

This course introduces the basic concepts and theories of refrigeration and air conditioning. Physics, major component functions, gas laws and pressure/temperature relationships are also introduced to assist in the understanding of the compression refrigeration cycle.

A/C and Refrigeration 2

Comprehensive instruction on three major system components of refrigeration and air conditioning systems: compressors, condensers and cooling towers are covered in this continuation of A/C Refrigeration I. Gain knowledge of reciprocating, rotary, screw, centrifugal and scroll compressors, as well as the classifications of compressors such as open compressors, semi-hermetic and hermetic. Air-cooled, water-cooled, evaporative and
cooling towers, including water treatment are also covered.

ARC Welding I

Check out the classifieds. Welders are in demand! Learn the proper and safe operation of ARC welding equipment, as well as becoming skilled in the basic knowledge of welding and metal fabrication using various rods and mild steel. To apply the skills you are learning, projects are worked on throughout the course. Safety glasses required, included in tuition.

ARC Welding II

Expand and apply the knowledge gained from ARC Welding I to increase employment eligibility and advancement opportunities. Learn how to fabricate more sophisticated projects and advanced welding techniques to increase welding fabrication skills for various welding positions. Safety glasses required, included in tuition.


HVAC Technician

A hands-on job-training course that is designed to prepare individuals for entry-level HVAC Technician positions. Some of the topics include theory of heat, safety, tools, commonly used equipment, shop practices, basic automatic controls, basic electricity and magnetism, electric motors, refrigeration, air conditioning, domestic appliances and chilled water air conditioning systems. Course also includes the North American Technician Excellence KATE areas of Air Conditioning, Air Distribution, Heat Pumps - Air-to- Air, Gas Warm Air Heating, Oil Warm Air Heating and
Refrigerant Transition Recovery Certification testing. Safety glasses required, included in tuition. Excellent attendance is required. Tuition, books and lab fees included. Payment Plan Available.

RSES Hot Water Heating

Gain the skills to be competent in one of the hot HVAC industries. Principles and theories, hot water boilers and controls, heat transfer units, centrifugal pumps, air controls, hot water specialties, piping methods, pressure drop calculations, zoning, primary/secondary pumping, radiant heating systems, temperature controls, troubleshooting system components, and analysis of system problems. 3.8 CEUs for individuals that are NATE Certified needing continuing education credits.

RSES Introduction to Electricity

Explore the fundamental concepts of electricity and magnetism. Voltage, direct and alternating . current, series and parallel circuits, electrical symbols and schematic diagrams, and electrical safety are also covered. 2.5 CEUs for individuals that are NATE Certified needing continuing education credits.

RSES R/AC [Refrigeration/Air Conditioning]

Principals of refrigeration and air conditioning, basic physics, major component functions, gas laws, and pressure/temperature relationships are introduced to assist in the understanding of the compression refrigeration cycle. 3.2 CEUs for individuals that are NATE Certified needing continuing education credits.

RSES Troubleshooting Residential Equipment

A hot course for entry-level service technicians and experienced technicians! Devoted solely to the subject of electrical troubleshooting, we cover basic procedures commonly used in servicing the electrical systems of residential and light commercial HVAC/R equipment. A valuable set of recommended field-proven methods for performing the most frequently needed troubleshooting tasks. The experienced technician will also find the information useful as a ready source of reference, especially when considering alternative service procedures. 4.8 CEUs for individuals that are NATE Certified needing continuing education credits.

RSES Gas Heating

Explore the concepts of heating with gas. Learn about combustion chemistry, heating fuels, burners and accessories, burner types and components [including natural gas-burning and LP gas-burning equipment], start-up and combustion efficiency testing, gas burner controls, ignition systems for infrared heaters, gas heating equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and condensing furnaces. 3.2 CEUs for individuals that are NATE Certified needing continuing education credits.

Carpentry - Module A

Learn the basics of carpentry as applied to residential construction, from foundation to roofing. Topics include wall, window, stairwell, roof framing, erecting walls, installing windows, layout, application of roofing, and more. Safety goggles required, included in tuition.

Carpentry - Module B

Learn the basics of interior finish work and alterations. Topics include installation of sheetrock, taping, door installation, floor tiling, molding, and more. Safety goggles required, included in tuition.

Deck Construction

Learn the basics of deck construction from planning to completion. Topics include choosing and estimating
materials, footings, supports, attachment, platform framing, posts and rails, stair layout, and more. Textbook is optional and is the same as Carpentry Modules A & B. Safety goggles required, included in tuition.
