MTI The Workforce Connection GED, Literacy, and Math Basics

GED [Grade/General Equivalency Diploma]

Home Study Program

  • Would you like to earn your GED but don’t have the time to attend a class?
  • Is it too hard to get childcare?
  • Is transportation a problem?

Requirements:

  • You must live near Dutchess County, New York to participate
  • Must be 21 years of age or older and demonstrate a 9th grade reading level.
  • Study packets are prepared by an Instructor and available for pick-up at a local
    library on a two-week schedule.
  • Contact with the Instructor can be by phone, mail or in person.

All Home Study Students are Required to Attend Both Pre & Post Testing Sessions During the Year!

Literacy • Free Home Study • Learn to Read & Another Page

  • Learn to Read & Another Page are video-based home study reading programs designed to increase student’s vocabulary and reading comprehension skills.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Each half hour video builds reading and vocabulary skills through engaging learning exercises that also demonstrate how reading skills can be used to problem solve real life situations.

Math Basics

Math basics is a distance learning video-based home study program designed for students who need a slower paced math program.

Lively lessons present real-life math used at home and on the job! Build your confidence as you study basic operations, weight and measurement, decimals and percents, reading graphs and tables, rounding and estimating, and other essential math skills. “Math commercials” show people using math in their work.

Math Basics is for those who:

  • are 21 years of age or older.
  • cannot attend regularly scheduled classes.
  • do not have a GED or high school diploma.
  • are math phobic.

All home study students are required to attend both pre & post testing sessions during the school year!

    Career Training Entrance Exam
    Prior to registering for a 100+ hour Career Training Program, students must take a
    Math & Reading entrance exam offered at any of the times & locations listed above.
