Phlebotomy Technician

The development of new diagnostic techniques, clinical laboratory technology and automated instruments has greatly increased the volume of laboratory testing. As a result, the Phlebotomy Technician has emerged with a greater role in facilitating the specimen collection process and is an integral member of the clinical laboratory team.

Phlebotomy Technicians work in hospitals, physician offices, group practices, nursing homes, prison facilities, independent laboratories, and blood donor organizations. Duties may include: drawing blood, preparing specimens for storage or testing, assembling equipment and verifying patient’s records. A Phlebotomist may also conduct patient interviews, and screen donors at a blood bank.

Hospital Admissions Clerk

Prerequisites:

    • Physical Exam
    • Reading & Math Entrance Exam

Materials:

    • Lab coat & shoes required


Hospital Inpatient Coding Class

Take the next step in your medical coding career. Learn hospital-related Diagnostic and Procedural Coding using ICD-9 diagnosis and procedure codes. These are codes used by hospitals for reimbursement and health care statistics. Course includes an introduction to Diagnostic Related Groups [DRG] assignments and how they affect reimbursement.

Prerequisites:

Medical office background and experience, or completion of a Medical Billing class, or permission of the instructor. Math and Reading assessment required, as well as a high school diploma or GED.


Medical Office Billing Specialist

Learn the basics of medical office billing procedures. Gain a comprehensive overview and understanding of the guidelines for claims processing. Course prepares you to perform medical billing in physician offices using proper codes and procedures.

Medical terminology and coding components will be integrated for greater comprehension and retention. In addition, students will apply newly learned skills throughout the program. Payment Plan Available.

    • Evaluation and Management Coding in CPT
    • Fundamentals of Health Information
    • Management

Basic computer skills, Math & Reading entrance exam, high school diploma or GED.

Medical Office Billing Specialist


Other Important Information:

    • Students should be prepared to complete 4 - 6 hours of homework per week
    • To receive a Certificate of Completion students must earn a final grade of 85% or above
