Phlebotomy Technician
The development of new diagnostic techniques, clinical laboratory technology and automated instruments has greatly increased the volume of laboratory testing. As a result, the Phlebotomy Technician has emerged with a greater role in facilitating the specimen collection process and is an integral member of the clinical laboratory team.

Phlebotomy Technicians work in hospitals, physician offices, group practices, nursing homes, prison facilities, independent laboratories, and blood donor organizations. Duties may include: drawing blood, preparing specimens for storage or testing, assembling equipment and verifying patient’s records. A Phlebotomist may also conduct patient interviews, and screen donors at a blood bank.

Hospital Admissions Clerk

Hospital Inpatient Coding Class
Take the next step in your medical coding career. Learn hospital-related Diagnostic and Procedural Coding using ICD-9 diagnosis and procedure codes. These are codes used by hospitals for reimbursement and health care statistics. Course includes an introduction to Diagnostic Related Groups [DRG] assignments and how they affect reimbursement.

Prerequisites:
Medical office background and experience, or completion of a Medical Billing class, or permission of the instructor. Math and Reading assessment required, as well as a high school diploma or GED.

Medical Office Billing Specialist
Medical Billing Specialists are in demand, particularly if they possess ICD and CPT coding skills. The Medical Billing Specialist program is designed to prepare individuals for entry-level positions processing and managing third-party reimbursement and managing patient accounts receivables in non-hospital health care settings.

Physician practices, clinics, health maintenance organizations, and other health care entities including private billing services are all employment options.

Basic computer skills, Math & Reading entrance exam, high school diploma or GED.

Medical Office Billing Specialist

Other Important Information:

  • Students should be prepared to complete 4 - 6 hours of homework per week
  • To receive a Certificate of Completion students must earn a final grade of 85% or above
